Why I Fell Out of Love with Gaming
After 36 years of gaming, I made the decision to pack away my PlayStation 5 and store it in the attic. This unexpected move comes from a lifelong gamer, who never thought he would reach this point at the age of 41.
Possible Reasons for the Change
- Having young children under six
- A midlife crisis
- The current state of the gaming industry
- Personal creative pursuits
- The impact of modern-day challenges
Playing games like Baldur’s Gate 3, Tekken 8, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth failed to hold my interest for long. This lack of engagement is set against a backdrop of what feels like a creativity vacuum in the industry, with major players like Sony and Microsoft appearing directionless.
While I hope my interest in gaming will reignite, I fear it may not happen before a potential apocalyptic event transforms reality into a Fallout-like scenario.
