WhatsApp Outage Hits Users Worldwide
On Wednesday night, users in India and around the world experienced issues with the popular messaging application WhatsApp. Many users took to social media to report that they were unable to access the service, with the hashtag #whatsappdown trending on various platforms.
Error Message Reported
Several users of WhatsApp, owned by Meta Platforms, encountered an error message stating that the service was currently unavailable. The outage tracking website Downdetector.com confirmed the widespread issue, with some users reporting that the service had resumed for them.
Instagram Users Also Affected
According to Downdetector.com, around 3,200 people in the United States were experiencing issues with Instagram during the same time period. The outage seemed to impact users across different Meta Platforms services.
Meta Platforms’ Previous Outage
Last month, Meta platforms Facebook and Instagram faced a global outage that lasted for more than two hours. Tens of thousands of users were affected by a technical issue that caused disruptions across various Meta Platforms services.
During the outage, users reported being logged out of Facebook and Instagram, with error messages indicating login expirations. Other services such as Messenger, Instagram, and Threads were also impacted by the technical issue.
Meta Platforms acknowledged the problem and assured users that they were working to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.
