Kevin O’Leary’s Warning
Kevin O’Leary, the host and investor of Shark Tank, recently issued a stern warning to pro-Palestinian student protestors regarding the potential consequences they may face in their future job searches.
AI Technology and Background Checks
O’Leary emphasized the impact of AI technology in evaluating job applications, highlighting how even distant images can be used to identify individuals based on their body movements. He expressed astonishment at the findings of background checks and stated, “These people are screwed.”
Consequences for Protestors
During an interview, O’Leary mentioned that businesses could use AI to screen out individuals who have engaged in demonstrations. He illustrated this by saying, “Here’s your resume with a picture of you burning a flag. See that one. That goes in this pile over here, cause I can get the same person’s talent in this pile that’s not burning anything.”
O’Leary further emphasized the repercussions for protestors, stating, “We see you now. All you need is to have your eyes exposed…and for the rest of your life, you’re in THIS pile!” and concluded that “these people are SCREWED!”
Identification through AI
Even if protestors attempt to conceal their identities by wearing masks, O’Leary pointed out that AI technology can still identify them through methods like retinal scanning. He highlighted the impact of such actions on one’s personal brand, stating, “So if you’re burning down something, or taking a flag down, or fighting with police, I’m sorry, you’re trashing your personal brand.”
Student Protests in the United States
Protests in support of Palestine have been widespread across universities in the United States. Encampments were set up at various campuses, including Columbia University, Harvard, Yale, UCLA, and Arizona State University, following the lead of Columbia demonstrators.
