Urgent Need for Foster Homes for Adult Dogs
Dogs Trust Ireland is urgently seeking foster homes for adult dogs in their care, especially those requiring surgery and a home environment for recovery.
Requirements for Foster Homes
- Prefer adult-only homes or homes with older children
- Secure outdoor areas are desirable
- Some dogs may not be ready for walks
Meet Malcolm: A Dog in Need
One such dog in need is Malcolm, a two-year-old Pitbull cross requiring knee surgery. Dogs Trust is actively looking for a home for him to settle into before his operation.
Malcolm was found as a stray at six months old and is now back in Dogs Trust’s care due to changes in his owner’s circumstances.
Eimear Cassidy, regional manager at Dogs Trust Ireland, describes Malcolm as a big, loveable dog who needs surgery to repair his cruciate ligament. After the operation, he will require crate rest for several weeks. An adult-only home with no other pets is ideal for his recovery.
Fostering for Recovery and Adoption
Fostering provides vulnerable dogs like Malcolm with a chance to recuperate in a loving environment, increasing their chances of finding forever homes. It also helps Dogs Trust save more dogs in need by freeing up kennel space.
While Malcolm is currently at the re-homing center in Dublin, Dogs Trust is seeking foster homes across Ireland for other adult dogs in their care.
