United Airlines Flight Forced to Abort Takeoff Due to Engine Fire

United Airlines Flight Incident at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport

On Monday, May 27, a United Airlines flight faced a harrowing experience at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. The incident, captured in a chilling video, involved an engine fire that forced the aircraft to abort takeoff.

Details of the Incident

  • The flight, United Flight 2091, was bound for Seattle with 148 passengers and five crew members on board.
  • The engine fire erupted on the taxiway, leading to thick smoke coming from one of the wings.
  • Passengers and crew were evacuated after the Airbus 320 was taken back to a gate.

Passenger Account

Ivan Paloalto, a passenger on board, described hearing a blast as the plane was preparing for takeoff. He captured the moment in a video from inside the aircraft.

Response and Resolution

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) temporarily halted arrivals at the airport until operations resumed. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and passengers were safely deplaned after the engine malfunction was addressed by first responders.

United Airlines stated, “We are working to make alternative travel arrangements for customers,” ensuring passenger safety and convenience.

Travel Disruptions

The incident at O’Hare International Airport was not the only travel disruption over the Memorial Day weekend. JFK International Airport also faced delays due to thunderstorms, impacting fliers in the New York area.
