About the Tailteann Cup
The Tailteann Cup, now in its third year, features an exciting format that brings together up to 17 teams in intense competition. This year’s tournament promises to be another thrilling event with several strong contenders vying for the cup.
Format of the Tailteann Cup
- Teams: Up to 17 teams compete in the cup.
- Selection: Teams are drawn from the bottom 16 rankings of the National Football League, along with New York.
- Competition: Teams are divided into four round-robin groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the knockout quarter-finals.
- Knockout Stage: The quarter-final pairings are determined by an open draw, leading to semi-finals and the final.
- Final Venue: The final is scheduled to take place at Croke Park, three weeks before the All-Ireland Football Final.
