Dexter: Original Sin – A Prequel to the Dexter Series
It has been 2 long years since Dexter drew to a close but fans will soon have a prequel to sink their teeth into. Hollywood legend Christian Slater, 54, known for films including Heathers and True Romance, has even joined the cast of the spin-off, titled Dexter: Original Sin.
Plot Overview
The 10-part thriller will focus on a younger Dexter, played by Shadow and Bone’s Patrick Gibson, as he transitions from a normal American student to an avenging serial killer. Christian, 45, plays Dexter’s father Harry, who helps him adopt a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar.
Setting and Timeline
Set 15 years before the OG series, Dexter: Original Sin follows Dexter learning to channel his inner darkness, a particular challenge as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department, in 90s Miami.
Legacy of Dexter
Dexter premiered in 2006 and ran for eight seasons until 2013. Throughout its run, it was nominated for a total of 24 Emmy Awards, as well as Golden Globe Awards. In 2021, Dexter was rebooted in a show set 10 years after the events of the original. Michael reprised his role as the titular character in Dexter: New Blood, which ran for 2 seasons before its controversial ending, which devastated fans.
