Trump’s Comments on Election and Potential Violence
In a recent interview, former US President Donald Trump, seeking reelection in the 2024 US elections, refused to rule out potential violence similar to the Capitol riots in case of election defeat. When questioned about the possibility of physical unrest, Trump expressed confidence in winning but mentioned that the outcome depends on the fairness of the election.
Allegations of Election ‘Rigging’
Trump, through his social media platform Truth Social, accused Judge Juan Merchan of ‘rigging’ the 2024 election after the judge ruled that Trump violated a gag order. Trump claimed his freedom of speech was compromised and labeled the trial as rigged, alleging election interference.
Legal Consequences and Financial Actions
Following the ruling, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office found Trump in violation of the order multiple times, resulting in a total fine of $9,000. Additionally, Trump increased his ownership stake in Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the company behind Truth Social, to nearly 65% by acquiring 36 million shares.
