Trump Considers Removing ‘Nasty’ Australian Ambassador to US, Kevin Rudd

Former Australian PM Kevin Rudd Criticized by Trump

The former Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, has been the target of criticism by former United States President Donald Trump. Trump indicated that he would consider removing Rudd from his position as the Australian ambassador to the US if he were to be re-elected.

Trump’s Comments and Response

During an interview with Nigel Farage on GB News, Trump mentioned that Rudd “won’t be there long” as the Australian ambassador. This comes after Rudd has been a vocal critic of Trump, even going as far as calling him “The most destructive president in history.”

In response to Trump’s remarks, the Australian Foreign Minister expressed support for Rudd, stating that he is doing a “good job” and would continue to retain him as ambassador regardless of Trump’s potential return to office.

Rudd’s Criticisms of Trump

Rudd has not held back in his criticisms of Trump, accusing him of dragging America and democracy through the mud. In a post from 2020, Rudd highlighted Trump’s divisive behavior and his alleged abuse of Christianity to justify violence.

Furthermore, in another post from February 2022, Rudd referred to Trump as “a traitor to the West,” showcasing his strong disapproval of the former US president.

Reactions from Australian Officials

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who appointed Rudd as ambassador, expressed displeasure at attempts to politicize the role. He criticized the opposition coalition for trying to undermine Australia’s representative in the US.

During a press conference, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong praised Rudd’s performance as ambassador, describing him as “very effective.” Wong affirmed that Rudd would continue in his role even if Trump were to be re-elected as president.
