Tragic Incident Involving Indian Students in Scotland
Two Indian students, identified as Jitendranath Karuturi, 26, and Chanhakya Bolisetti, aged 22, tragically lost their lives due to drowning while hiking at a popular tourist spot in Scotland. The incident occurred at the Linn of Tummel, where they were accompanied by other individuals.
Recovery of Bodies
Emergency services conducted a recovery operation and retrieved the bodies of the two men on Wednesday night from the water at the Linn of Tummel. Scotland Police received a report around 7 pm on Wednesday about the men in the water at the waterfall near Blair Atholl. Following extensive searches, the bodies were recovered.
Ongoing Investigations
The Scotland Police spokesperson stated that inquiries are currently underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. However, initial assessments suggest that there are no suspicious circumstances related to the deaths.
Support and Assistance
Both students were pursuing a Master’s degree at Dundee University. The families of the students have been informed by the Indian Consulate General, and a consular representative has met with a student residing in the UK. Dundee University has pledged to provide support in every possible way.
Repatriation Process
Following the completion of post-mortem procedures, the process for repatriating the bodies of the deceased students to India will commence.
