Republic of Ireland Squad Announcement for Upcoming Friendlies
Tom Cannon has been named in the Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming friendlies against Hungary and Portugal. This marks his first call-up to the national team, despite previous interest from the English FA.
Player Call-Ups and Returns
- Troy Parrott makes a return to the squad.
- Goalkeeper David Harrington from Fleetwood Town receives his first senior call-up.
In-form players included in the squad are Blackburn Rovers midfielder Sammie Szmodics, who was the top scorer in the Championship this season with 27 goals, and Adam Idah, who recently scored the winning goal for Celtic in the Scottish Cup final against Rangers.
Parrott is expected to miss the first game against Hungary due to his club Excelsior’s involvement in the Dutch relegation play-offs.
