Tragic Incident Involving Iranian President and Foreign Minister

Details of the Incident
- The helicopter carrying Raisi, Amirabdollahian, East Azerbaijan Governor Malek Rahmati, and other officials crashed into a mountain peak.
- The crash occurred after Raisi had been inaugurating a joint dam project with Azerbaijan and was returning in heavy fog.
- While two helicopters in Raisi’s convoy landed safely, the one carrying the President crashed in the Jolfa region of East Azerbaijan province.
Rescue Efforts and Confirmation of Deaths
Following the crash, rescue teams faced challenges due to poor weather conditions. Despite their efforts, there were no signs of life among the passengers.
- 73 rescue teams were dispatched for search and rescue operations.
- Iran’s Red Crescent chief confirmed the location of the helicopter, with no survivors found.
State media later confirmed the tragic deaths of Raisi, Amirabdollahian, and all other passengers on board. Mohammad Mokhber is expected to become interim president following Raisi’s passing.
