Emergency Evacuation in Orenburg Region Due to Rising Waters
An emergency has been declared across the Orenburg region after levels in the Ural River rose to dangerous levels due to melting ice. Thousands of people are being evacuated from the Russian Ural mountains Orenburg region after a section of a dam in the city of Orsk burst, reported the state media citing local officials.
Evacuation and Flooding Situation

- Orenburg Mayor Sergei Salmin urged residents of riverside settlements to evacuate immediately, stating that the situation was critical.
- 300 houses have already been flooded, and residents of Orsk are being evacuated as more than 4,200 homes and almost 11,000 people may be affected by rising floodwater.
Response and Relief Efforts
Relief workers and equipment have been deployed to deal with the aftermath of the dam burst in Orsk. Around 440 relief workers and 217 pieces of equipment are on site to assist.
Current Evacuation Status
So far, 135 people, including 55 children, have been evacuated to temporary shelters set up in the region. Evacuation efforts are ongoing in the old part of Orsk after a protective dam collapsed near Orenburgskaya Street.
State of Emergency and Recent Floods
A state of emergency has been declared in the Orenburg region, with personnel from the country’s emergencies ministry assisting those affected by flooding nationwide. Recent floods have impacted several Russian Siberian and Urals mountain provinces, including the Orenburg region and neighboring parts of Kazakhstan.
