Details of the Incident

On a flight from London, United Kingdom to Singapore, a Boeing 777-300ER plane experienced sudden, extreme turbulence while flying over Myanmar. This turbulence caused a rapid change in gravitational force and a significant altitude drop of 54 meters in less than five seconds.

Report Findings

The Transport Safety Investigation Bureau (TSIB) of Singapore released a report stating that the rapid changes in gravitational force and altitude drop may have led to injuries, especially for those not wearing seatbelts. The report highlighted the drastic vertical acceleration changes that occurred within a short duration.
