Former WWE Champion Released
A former WWE Champion is among the superstars to be let go from the company in a batch of releases. Jinder Mahal, who became the first man of Indian descent to hold the title when he picked up an unlikely win over Randy Orton at Backlash in 2017, is set to leave the professional wrestling giant alongside teammates Veer Mahan, Sanga, Xia Li, and Xyon Quinn.
Noncompete Clauses for Released Talent
Any talent released from Raw or SmackDown – such as Jinder – will have a 90-day noncompete clause barring them from wrestling for another company, while NXT superstar Xyon will have a 30-day wait.
Statements from Departing Superstars
Jinder Mahal tweeted, ‘I Quit. Maharaja Out 💰,’ and changed his bio to: ‘🔥 Free Agent – 90 Days.’ Veer, in a message translated from Hindi, wrote: ‘When it comes to the honor and respect of Indians, sacrifice comes first. Good Bye WWE 🙏🏾 Jai Jai Shri Ram 🙇🏽♂️🚩’.
Sanga added in a post, ‘I will die but I will not bow down. Neither me nor my India. Jai Hind 🙏 #wwe’.
Xia Li reflected on her time in WWE, expressing gratitude for the opportunities and experiences she gained during her seven years with the company. She thanked WWE, HHH, coaches, co-workers, and fans for their support and assistance.
Messages of Support
Xia Li received messages of support from fellow wrestlers, including Iyo Sky, Kairi Sane, Taya Valkyrie, and Chelsea Green, expressing sadness at her departure but also admiration for her resilience and determination.
