Sebastian Vettel Considering Formula One Comeback
Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has hinted at a potential return to Formula One after revealing discussions with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff.
Background
Vettel, who secured his four drivers’ titles with Red Bull between 2010 and 2013, departed from F1 at the conclusion of the 2022 season following stints with Ferrari and Aston Martin.
Mercedes is currently in search of a new driver for the 2025 season and beyond, as Lewis Hamilton announced his departure to Ferrari after an 11-year tenure with the Silver Arrows.
Exploring Options
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Vettel shared insights into his conversations with various team principals across the paddock, including Toto Wolff.
“I am speaking to Toto. I don’t know if that qualifies as Mercedes, but about other things,” Vettel mentioned. “I’m talking to a lot of people because I know them, but not very specific.”
While considering his potential return to F1, Vettel highlighted the presence of other commitments and interests in his life, including family and non-racing related endeavors.
Future Plans
Reflecting on Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, Vettel expressed surprise but acknowledged the excitement of witnessing the British driver in a new racing environment.
Regarding his own racing endeavors, Vettel disclosed his exploration of different racing disciplines, such as testing the Porsche contender for the Le Mans 24 Hours.
“Maybe, I don’t know yet,” Vettel responded when asked about his potential participation in the endurance race. “It’s obviously a different discipline. It’s still racing, but it’s a different car, different discipline.”
While considering his options, Vettel remains open to new challenges and opportunities both within and outside the realm of motorsport.
