Ronnie O’Sullivan’s Thoughts on a Potential Snooker Breakaway Circuit
Ronnie O’Sullivan recently shared his thoughts on the possibility of a breakaway circuit in snooker, similar to the LIV Golf model. While he expressed interest in such a concept, he made it clear that he is not actively participating in discussions surrounding a potential rival tour.
Interest in a Breakaway Circuit
O’Sullivan joked that he would welcome a LIV-style breakaway in snooker if he were offered a significant sum of money, stating, “I wouldn’t mind getting a phone call saying ‘here, do you want 600 million to play for three years?’.”
Current Commitments
Despite his openness to the idea, O’Sullivan has already committed to playing in World Snooker Tour events in Saudi Arabia for the next three years, effectively ruling himself out of any parallel tour.
Player Perspectives
When asked about players potentially joining a rival tour, O’Sullivan emphasized that each player has to make their own decisions based on their career goals and priorities. He highlighted the importance of finding a balance between work, financial considerations, and personal time.
“We all have different positions in the game, different stages of careers. Working more might work for some people, working less might. It’s not just always about money. The most important thing is our time. For some people it’s money. It’s whatever really,” O’Sullivan remarked.
