Man from Texas Removed from Flight for Boarding with Child’s Ticket
On Sunday, March 17, 26-year-old Wicliff Fleurizard, a resident of George, Texas, was escorted off Flight 1683 by Salt Lake City Police officers after it was discovered that he had boarded the flight using a child’s boarding card.
Unusual Boarding Incident
Wicliff, originating from Salt Lake City International Airport, managed to board the Delta Air Lines flight bound for Austin, Texas. He spent an extended period in the front lavatory before being noticed by flight attendants.
Discovery and Confrontation
As the plane prepared for takeoff, Wicliff moved from the front lavatory to one at the rear. A vigilant flight attendant, realizing there were no available seats corresponding to Wicliff’s supposed seat number, approached him for verification.
Identification and Intervention
Upon confirming his name and seat number, it became evident that Wicliff was not a legitimate passenger on the flight. Despite efforts to locate his name on the passenger list, he could not be found, prompting the aircraft to return to the boarding bridge.
Police Involvement
Upon the plane’s return, Salt Lake City police officers were summoned. Investigation revealed that Wicliff, traveling alone, had been experiencing difficulties during boarding. Security footage indicated him photographing boarding passes without consent.
Legal Proceedings
During questioning, Wicliff admitted to his actions, citing a desire to return home to his family. He claimed to have encountered issues while attempting to book a subsequent flight on the same day. Despite his explanation, he was arrested by SLCPD and taken into custody.
