North Korean Leader Supervises Firing Drills of ‘Super-Large’ Rocket Launchers Targeting Seoul

North Korea Conducts Live Fire Drills of Multiple Rocket Launchers

Recently, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw live fire drills of nuclear-capable “super-large” multiple rocket launchers designed to target the South Korean capital Seoul. The drills were conducted to test the real war capabilities of the rocket launchers and enhance the combat readiness of the operators.

Key Highlights

  • The live fire drills aimed to test the real war capabilities of the 600-millimeter multiple rocket launchers.
  • Some of the systems tested included rocket launchers capable of delivering tactical nuclear warheads.
  • A simulation of an air explosion of a shell of the rocket launcher was conducted during the drills.
  • The unit displayed high mobility and strong striking power in carrying out combat missions.

Kim Jong Un’s Statement

Kim Jong Un emphasized the importance of the multiple rocket launchers in North Korea’s arsenal, highlighting their potential use in targeting Seoul in case of a conflict on the Korean Peninsula. He stressed the need to show enemies the disastrous consequences of engaging in armed conflict.

South Korea’s Response

South Korea and Japan reported that North Korea launched multiple ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan during a conference attended by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Seoul. This launch followed the conclusion of joint military drills between the United States and South Korea.

Seoul’s defense minister warned that a large-scale missile attack by North Korea would constitute a war and trigger strong retaliatory measures.
