Upcoming Shutdown of Online Play for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U
As of Monday, online play on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U consoles will no longer be available. Nintendo had previously announced the termination of online services for 3DS and Wii U software, with the switch-off date set for Monday, April 8, at midnight UK time.

- Offline modes of games will remain playable
Continued Functionality
Nintendo has confirmed that while online services will cease, users can still download update data and redownload purchased software and content from Nintendo eShop. StreetPass will continue to function as it relies on local communication.

Owners of games from third-party publishers are advised to contact the publishers directly for information on whether their titles will be affected by the shutdown.
Devices affected by the shutdown include the New Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 2DS XL, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS, Wii U Deluxe, and Wii U Basic.
