Des Cars revealed that the Louvre is in discussions with the culture ministry to explore potential solutions for showcasing the Mona Lisa in a more visitor-friendly manner.
Current Display
Currently, the Mona Lisa shares space with other artworks, including The Wedding at Cana by Paolo Veronese, in the Louvre’s Salle des Etats. The portrait is exhibited in a protective glass case.
Protest Incident
Earlier this year, a protest took place where activists splashed soup on the bullet-proof glass protecting the Mona Lisa. The protesters demanded attention to “healthy and sustainable food,” leading to their detainment by the police.
