Microsoft Appoints Pavan Davuluri as Head of Windows and Surface
Microsoft has announced the appointment of Pavan Davuluri as the new head of both Windows and Surface departments, consolidating the leadership of these two verticals under his guidance.
Who is Pavan Davuluri?
- Pavan Davuluri is a graduate of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
- He has over 23 years of experience working with Microsoft.
- After completing his post-graduation at the University of Maryland, he joined Microsoft as the Reliability Component Manager.
- He has previously served as a corporate vice president at the company.
Internal Communication
Microsoft’s head of experience and devices, Rajesh Jha, announced Davuluri’s new role in an internal communication, emphasizing the holistic approach to building silicon, systems, experiences, and devices in the AI era.
Jha stated, “Pavan Davuluri will lead this team and continue to report to me. Shilpa Ranganathan and Jeff Johnson and their teams will report directly to Pavan. The Windows team will continue to work closely with the Microsoft AI team on AI, silicon, and experiences.”
Microsoft AI Focus
Davuluri’s appointment comes at a time when Microsoft is focusing on its Artificial Intelligence (AI) arm. Recently, the company hired former DeepMind co-founder Mustafa Suleyman as the head of Microsoft AI, indicating a strategic shift towards AI integration within the organization.
Additionally, Mikhail Parakhin, CEO of advertising and web services at Microsoft, along with his unit working on the Bing search engine and Edge browser, will now be part of the Microsoft AI division.
