Maro Itoje Cleared to Play After Dangerous Tackle
England forward Maro Itoje has been cleared to continue playing after a dangerous tackle incident during Saracens’ recent victory over Bath in the Gallagher Premiership.
Panel Dismisses Citing
The independent disciplinary panel, as confirmed by the Rugby Football Union, dismissed the citing against Itoje, allowing him to be available for Saracens without any ban.
Boost for Saracens
This decision comes as a major boost for Saracens, currently in second place in the Premiership standings, as they gear up for their upcoming matches against Bristol and Sale Sharks.
Maro Itoje will be available for Saracens’ remaining Premiership games.
Details of the Tackle
Itoje made an upright tackle on Bath’s Alfie Barbeary during the match, with the referee issuing a yellow card for the incident. The panel, after reviewing multiple angles of the tackle, determined that the contact was not initially with the head, and therefore did not pose a high degree of danger.
Panel chair Philip Evans KC stated, “The player is free to play with immediate effect,” confirming Itoje’s availability for future games.
