Indian Opposition’s ‘Save Democracy’ Rally: Uniting Against BJP’s Alleged Misuse of Central Agencies
The Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.) is gearing up for a mega rally named ‘Loktantra Bachao’ (Save Democracy) at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan. The rally aims to de-seat Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party from power during the upcoming General Elections.
Opposition Leaders Unite
Top opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Akhilesh Yadav, will join forces to present a united front against what they describe as the ruling BJP’s misuse of central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate, CBI, and the Income Tax Department.
Key Attendees
In addition to prominent opposition figures, Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita will also attend the mega rally on Sunday, March 31. Sunita recently gained attention as a messenger for her jailed husband, the Delhi Chief Minister.
Message to PM Modi
The Congress party has labeled the rally as a strong message to Prime Minister Modi that his “time is up.” The event, named Loktantra Bachao rally, is a collective effort involving around 27-28 parties under the INDIA ‘janbandhan’ banner.

Absentees and Representation
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to skip the rally to avoid sharing the stage with her rival Sitaram Yechury of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-M). The TMC is likely to be represented by its Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien.
