Juror Excused from Trump Hush Money Trial
A juror in Donald Trump’s hush money trial was excused due to fear after her identification details were disclosed. The judge presiding over the trial mentioned that the juror had been excused because she claimed to be terrified by the disclosure of some details of her identification.
Reason for Juror’s Excusal
The juror expressed concerns about her ability to remain fair and unbiased after her identification was revealed. She mentioned that external influences from friends, relatives, and coworkers contacting her could affect her decision-making in the courtroom.
Details of the Trial
During the jury selection process, the juror was selected along with six others. The trial involves evidence of a scheme where Trump and his former lawyer Michael Cohen allegedly fabricated documents to conceal payments made by Trump to Cohen. These payments were related to a “hush money” agreement with adult film star Stormy Daniels.
Trump has denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty, suggesting that the case is politically motivated. The trial marks the first criminal trial of a former U.S. president.
Jury Selection Process
Candidates from Manhattan are part of the jury pool, and they are required to provide information about their personal lives, political beliefs, and news consumption habits. Twelve jurors and six alternates will ultimately form the jury that will deliver a verdict in the trial.
