Jude Bellingham Wins World Breakthrough of the Year

Jude Bellingham joined Novak Djokovic and Aitana Bonmati as the big winners at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid. Bellingham became the first footballer to claim the honour after an outstanding season at Real Madrid, scoring 21 goals since joining from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

Novak Djokovic Named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year

Novak Djokovic was named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year for a record-equalling fifth time after his impressive performance in winning the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open. Djokovic expressed his gratitude for the award and credited his team and rivals for pushing him to success.

Aitana Bonmati’s Double Triumph

Aitana Bonmati made history by winning two awards at the Laureus World Sports Awards. She was the first footballer to win the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year trophy and also represented the Spain team that won the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Bonmati emphasized the importance of being a role model for younger generations of female athletes.

Simone Biles’ Remarkable Comeback

American gymnast Simone Biles received the World Comeback of the Year award for her successful return to gymnastics. Biles collected four gold medals at the World Gymnastics Championships after taking a break from the sport due to mental health issues.
