In response to the US veto, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs will summon ambassadors from countries that supported upgrading the status of Palestinians in the UN. Spokesperson Oren Marmorstein mentioned that this action is in protest of the countries that voted in favor of the Palestinian upgrade.

Israel firmly opposes recognizing Palestine as a full UN member state, considering it a “prize for terrorism.” The rejection of the draft resolution by the Security Council aligns with Israel’s position.
The Security Council’s Committee on the Admission of Member States deliberated on the matter earlier this month, but the US vetoed the draft resolution recommending Palestine’s admission as a full member.
