Iranian President Raisi’s Helicopter Crash
Iranian state TV reported that there is ‘no sign of life’ at the crash site of the helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. The situation is described as “not good” by Red Crescent chief Pirhossein Koolivand.
Turkey’s Assistance in the Search
A Turkish drone, Bayraktar Akinci, involved in the search for President Raisi’s helicopter has detected a heat source. Turkey has provided the coordinates of this location to the Iranian authorities for further assistance.
Rescue Efforts and Updates
The images captured by the Turkish drone have been assessed by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). Rescue forces are expected to reach the identified location within the next half hour.
The Chief of the Red Crescent in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province confirmed that rescue teams are being dispatched to the area known as Tavil, believed to be the crash site. Iran’s Press TV also verified the dispatch of rescue teams to the location.
Flight-tracking websites have indicated that the drone’s route was observed in north-western Iran.
US Response to the Incident
US Senator Chuck Schumer, based on discussions with US intelligence officials, stated that there is currently no evidence of foul play in the helicopter crash involving President Raisi.
