Rockford Police Chief Carla Redd disclosed that the first call for medical assistance came from the 2300 block of Holmes at approximately 1:15 pm local time. Subsequent calls for police and paramedics were made from various locations in Rockford and Winnebago County.
Police Statement
In an official statement, the police confirmed responding to multiple addresses in the Holmes Street, Winnetka Drive, and Cleveland Avenue area. The ongoing investigation involves a 22-year-old male suspect who was apprehended in the vicinity at 1:35 pm.
Possible Home Invasion
Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana reported a potential home invasion near the Florence and Eggleston intersection. A young woman suffered severe injuries to her face and hands in the incident, with a Good Samaritan also getting stabbed while attempting to assist her.
Victims Identified
The victims of the attack include a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man. One of the victims was identified as a postal worker. The identities of the deceased have not been disclosed.
