Hezbollah Rockets Attack on Israeli Army Headquarters
Hezbollah launched a significant attack on an Israeli army headquarters in response to recent Israeli raids in Lebanon. The incident marks a heightened escalation in the ongoing tensions between the two parties.
Details of the Attack
Hezbollah, a Hamas ally, confirmed the firing of “dozens” of Katyusha rockets at an army headquarters in northern Israel. This retaliation was triggered by Israeli raids targeting villages in southern Lebanon.
Escalating Conflict
Following the conflict initiated by Hamas on October 7, which led to a war in Gaza, there has been a continuous exchange of fire between the Israeli army and Hezbollah. The situation has been further exacerbated by the heightened tensions between Israel and Iran.
Hezbollah’s Statement
According to a statement from Hezbollah, the attack specifically targeted “the headquarters of the 3rd Infantry Brigade of the 91st Division at Ein Zeitim Base with dozens of Katyusha rockets”. This action was in response to Israeli assaults on southern villages and civilian homes, including recent strikes in Srifa, Odaisseh, and Rab Tlatin.
Response and Casualties
The Israeli military confirmed approximately 35 rocket launches from Lebanon into the Ein Zeitim area in northern Israel. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and the Israeli troops retaliated by targeting the sources of the launches.
Human Toll
Since the beginning of the conflict on October 7, casualties have been significant. In Lebanon, over 376 individuals, primarily Hezbollah fighters along with 70 civilians, have lost their lives. On the Israeli side of the border, 10 soldiers and eight civilians have been reported dead.
