A major tragedy was averted in Assam state’s Guwahati after part of the ceiling outside an international airport collapsed without causing any injuries. The incident occurred at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Assam’s Guwahati following a sudden storm and heavy rainfall.

Chief Airport Officer’s Statement
The Chief Airport Officer, Utpal Baruah, mentioned that a big tree outside the airport complex was uprooted by the storm, leading to the collapse of a wall and part of the ceiling. Water entered the terminal due to the impact of the storm.
Operational Impact
Due to the storm and heavy rain, visibility dropped significantly, resulting in the diversion of six flights to other airports. However, after the resumption of visibility, airport operations resumed normally.
