Guenther Steiner anticipates the eventual end of Red Bull’s dominance

Guenther Steiner Warns Red Bull of Eventual End to Dominance in Formula One

Guenther Steiner has cautioned Red Bull that their current dominance in Formula One, similar to Mercedes in the past, will eventually come to an end. Red Bull has secured the last three constructors’ championships, with Max Verstappen clinching three consecutive drivers’ titles, breaking the previous stronghold held by Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton.

Challenges Faced by Mercedes

  • Hamilton’s car lasted only 17 laps in the Australian Grand Prix.
  • Team-mate George Russell crashed out, leaving Mercedes 71 points behind Red Bull after three races.
  • Toto Wolff, the team boss, is under pressure due to the team’s performance.

Steiner acknowledged the struggles faced by Mercedes, stating that every team faces challenges and periods of dominance are not permanent in Formula One. He emphasized the competitive nature of the sport and the unpredictability of results.

Future of Mercedes and Red Bull

Steiner highlighted that while Mercedes is still performing well and scoring points, the competition in Formula One is fierce, with all ten teams capable of winning races. He noted that Toto Wolff may aspire for perpetual dominance, but changes in performance are inevitable.

Hamilton’s upcoming move to Ferrari in 2025 will leave a significant gap to fill in the Mercedes team, adding to the challenges they may face in the future.

Speaking as an ambassador for the Miami Grand Prix, Steiner commented on the potential recruitment of Carlos Sainz by Red Bull or Mercedes. He mentioned that while Toto Wolff is in no rush to make a decision, discussions with Sainz and other drivers are likely ongoing.
