FIGC Statement

A statement on the FIGC website explained that Acerbi clarified the alleged incident to head coach Luciano Spalletti upon his arrival at the national team camp in Rome.

  • There was no defamatory, denigrating, or racist intent on Acerbi’s part.
  • Acerbi will be excluded from the squad for the next two friendlies in the United States to allow for resolution.

Replacement in the Squad

Roma defender Gianluca Mancini, already on a reserved squad list, has been called up to replace Acerbi.
