Trump Hush Money Trial Update
Justice Juan Merchan issued a fine of $9,000 to former President Donald Trump for contempt of court in the ongoing hush money trial. The judge found Trump guilty of repeatedly violating a gag order that prohibited him from making public statements about witnesses, jurors, and others related to the case.
Judge’s Ruling
Justice Juan Merchan’s order came as the trial proceedings resumed in Manhattan criminal court. Prosecutors had alleged 10 violations of the gag order, but the judge determined there were nine. Trump was warned by the judge that further violations could result in jail time.
Upcoming Testimony
Testimony is expected to begin with a banker who is familiar with Trump’s accounts and the alleged scheme to pay hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels. The trial also involves accusations of falsifying business records to conceal the payments.
