Elon Musk Announces Tesla’s Plan to Introduce Humanoid Robot ‘Optimus’ Next Year

The Tesla humanoid robot, called Optimus, is still in the lab. Tesla chief executive Elon Musk mentioned that the robot may be ready for tasks in the factory by the end of this year. Musk highlighted Tesla’s potential in humanoid robot production, aiming for efficient volume production.

Development of Humanoid Robots

Tesla is not alone in the development of humanoid robots. Companies like Japan’s Honda and Hyundai Motor’s Boston Dynamics have also been working on similar projects. These robots are expected to address labor shortages and handle repetitive tasks in various industries.

Tesla’s First-Quarter Earnings

Tesla reported a significant drop in quarterly profits, with a 55% decrease from the previous year. Despite this, the company’s shares surged after announcing plans to introduce more affordable electric vehicles.

Tesla Lay-offs

Following the earnings report, Tesla revealed its decision to lay off over 6,000 employees globally. CEO Elon Musk emphasized the importance of streamlining operations for future growth and innovation.
