Interim President Mohammad Mokhber

On Monday, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced that Mohammad Mokhber will serve as Iran’s interim president. Mokhber will manage the executive branch and collaborate with other branches to elect a new president within 50 days.

About Mohammad Mokhber

Mohammad Mokhber, a close ally of Ayatollah Khamenei, previously led Setad, an investment fund linked to the supreme leader. He was once sanctioned by the EU but later removed from the list.

Interim Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri

Ali Bagheri, Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, has been appointed as the acting foreign minister. He served as deputy foreign minister under Amir-Abdollahian.

Upcoming Presidential Election

Iran must hold a presidential election within 50 days to choose Raisi’s successor. A council comprising the first vice president, the speaker of parliament, and the head of the judiciary will oversee the election process.
