Memorial Ride Out in Memory of Dave Myers
Thousands of motorcyclists gathered to pay tribute to the late Hairy Biker, Dave Myers, by participating in a 75-mile ride. Myers, who was part of the motorcycle-riding cooking duo with TV chef Si King, passed away in February at the age of 66 after battling cancer.

On Sunday, April 7, motorcyclists from all over the country joined together for a convoy ride to honor Dave Myers and raise funds for cancer research. TV chef Si King expressed his gratitude to the participants, mentioning that Myers would have appreciated the gesture.
The Ride
The ride, organized by Biker Escorts East Yorkshire, started in Beverley Market Place and passed through various towns in north Yorkshire before concluding in Scarborough. The event was expected to have around 3,000 participants, but the turnout doubled, with approximately 6,000 bikers taking part.
A Tribute to Dave Myers
Dave Myers, born in Barrow-in-Furness, was known for his adventurous spirit and love for food. Alongside Si King, the duo traveled the world on their motorcycles, exploring different cuisines and cultures. Their popular cooking series on BBC showcased their passion for food and life.
Aside from their TV shows, Myers and King authored numerous cookery books and even competed on Strictly Come Dancing. Despite Myers’ passing, their last series, The Hairy Bikers Go West, continued to air on BBC Two.
A Fond Farewell
In his final moments, Dave Myers was surrounded by loved ones, including Si King. King shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing his deep sorrow over the loss of his best friend. Myers is survived by his wife Liliana Orzac and his step-children, Iza and Sergiu.
