Protest at Columbia University
On Tuesday, April 30, Columbia University student protestors occupied Hamilton Hall in a demonstration against the university’s ties to Israel. The protestors took this action in response to the university’s decision to suspend students who were part of a pro-Palestinian encampment on campus.
Protestor’s Demands
The student protestors have made it clear through social media that they are demanding Columbia University to divest financially from Israel. They have stated that they will continue their occupation of Hamilton Hall until their demands are met.
Situation Inside Hamilton Hall
While the exact number of student demonstrators inside the building is currently unknown, reports from the Columbia Spectator, the university’s student newspaper, suggest that there are dozens of protestors occupying Hamilton Hall.
