Manchester United Midfielder Casemiro Out of Brazil Squad
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is out of the Brazil squad for upcoming friendlies against England and Spain due to injury. Coach Dorival Junior announced that Porto winger Pepe will replace him.
Impact on Manchester United
Casemiro’s absence is a significant blow for Manchester United, as he is a key player in Erik ten Hag’s lineup. This means he will miss the crucial FA Cup quarter-final match against Liverpool at Old Trafford with a kick-off time of 3.30pm.
Other Absences in the Brazil Squad
Casemiro joins a list of absentees in the Brazil squad, including Ederson, Gabriel Martinelli, and Marquinhos, all sidelined due to injuries. The team will face England at Wembley on March 23rd and Spain at Santiago Bernabeu three days later.
Coach Junior mentioned that out of a preliminary list of 50 names, 13 players were already ruled out due to injuries at their clubs. Pepe, originally a forward and now a midfielder at Porto, has been called up as Casemiro’s replacement.
New Additions to the Brazil Squad
In addition to Pepe, Dorival named Vasco da Gama keeper Leo Jardim, Flamengo defender Fabricio Bruno, and Porto forward Galeno to join the national team. This marks the first call-up to the national side for all three players.
