Burial Crypt Auctioned for $195,000
A burial crypt near Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe and Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has been auctioned for $195,000 (€180,000). The one-space mausoleum crypt at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary in Los Angeles was purchased by a tech investor from Beverly Hills who expressed his lifelong dream of being next to Marilyn Monroe.
Buyer’s Dream Come True
The buyer, Anthony Jabin, acquired the crypt located in the Corridor of Memories wall B, space C-3. Jabin shared his excitement, stating, “I’ve always dreamt of being next to Marilyn Monroe for the rest of my life and I bought Hugh Hefner’s round bed and Marilyn Monroe’s bathing suit at Julien’s Auctions.”
Monroe’s Legacy
Marilyn Monroe’s grave marker, which had been replaced due to minor wear, fetched over 40 times its estimated value at $88,900 (€82,369). The auction also featured significant items from Monroe’s life, such as a pink Pucci long-sleeved dress of silk jersey that sold for $325,000, becoming the top-selling lot of the event.
