President Biden’s Teleprompter Gaffe
During a speech at a trade union conference, President Biden inadvertently read teleprompter instructions aloud, causing an awkward pause.
Details of the Incident
US President Joe Biden seemed to make yet another gaffe during a speech to a trade union conference in Washington, DC. Biden was reading off a teleprompter and he mistakenly included the instructions in the middle of his speech, resulting in an awkward applause line.
“I see an America where we defend democracy, not diminish it. I see an America where we protect freedoms, not take them away. I see an economy that grows a lot in the bottom up where the wealthy pay their fair share, so we can have child care, paid leave and so much more, and still reduce the federal deficit and increase economic folks,” Biden said.
“Imagine what we could do next. Four more years, pause,” he added.
Biden went to the conference to receive an endorsement from the North American Building Trades Unions. Members of North America’s Building Trades Unions intervened after his gaffe and said “four more years” together.
Reactions and Concerns
Americans are increasingly worried about Biden’s mental state going into the election. Biden attacked former President Donald Trump throughout his speech, accusing him of being a supporter of the ultra-wealthy.
The 81-year-old Biden’s teleprompter gaffe is just the latest in his lengthy history of gaffes. During a Florida campaign speech, Biden wrongly stated that he and his party “can’t be trusted.” While condemning Donald Trump’s abortion policies, he said, “I don’t know why we’re surprised by Trump. How many times does he have to prove we can’t be trusted?”
Audience members laughed following his comment, but Biden proceeded, presumably unaware of the gaffe. “Yea this is not a sign of a healthy individual. How can someone like this be the leader of the free world. I don’t say this to be mean because I do respect the chair, no matter who is in it but we need change,” a user wrote on X.
