Man Arrested for Starting Fire Outside Senator Bernie Sanders’ Office
A man was arrested on Sunday for starting a fire outside the office of Senator Bernie Sanders in Burlington, Vermont. The incident occurred when Shant Soghomonian, 35, entered the building in downtown Burlington and headed to Sanders’ office on the third floor.

Soghomonian was captured by security cameras spraying a liquid near the door and setting it alight before departing via a staircase. The sprinklers were activated on multiple floors to contain the fire.
No Injuries Reported
Fortunately, although there were several people inside the office at the time, no injuries were reported. However, the door and surrounding areas suffered damage due to the fire.
It remains unclear whether Soghomonian has legal representation at this time, as he could not be reached for comment.
Senator Bernie Sanders, a longstanding independent representative in the US Senate from Vermont, has previously run for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination in both 2016 and 2020.
