Andy Murray to Miss Monte Carlo and Munich Tournaments Due to Ankle Issue

Andy Murray to Miss Monte Carlo Masters and BMW Open Munich Due to Ankle Injury

Andy Murray, the 36-year-old Scottish tennis player, will be sidelined from the upcoming Monte Carlo Masters and BMW Open Munich tournaments due to an ankle injury sustained during the Miami Open.

Uncertain Return Date

Murray, a two-time Wimbledon champion, expressed his determination to return to the court as soon as possible. However, the exact timeline for his comeback remains uncertain as he continues to consult with his medical team.

Official Statement

A statement released by Murray’s management team confirmed his absence from the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters and BMW Open Munich events. The statement highlighted the ongoing evaluation of treatment options and the disappointment surrounding Murray’s temporary withdrawal from competition.

Murray’s fans have shown their support through messages of encouragement, and he remains committed to updating them on his progress.

Injury Details

During his third-round match at the Miami Open, Murray experienced significant pain and fell to the ground. Despite receiving immediate treatment, he later revealed on social media that he had sustained serious damage to two ligaments in his left ankle.

Future Tournament Participation

The timing of Murray’s injury is particularly unfortunate, with less than 10 weeks remaining until the start of the British grass-court season and just over three months until Wimbledon, where he had intended to compete for the final time before retirement. His participation in the upcoming Olympics in Paris may also be affected, pending the need for surgical intervention or alternative treatment measures.

Despite this setback, Murray had shown promising form in Miami, winning consecutive matches for the first time this year.
