Allegations: Five Israeli Units Accused of Misconduct Preceding Hamas Attack

US State Department Identifies Israeli Units for Human Rights Violations

Recently, the United States State Department made an announcement regarding grave human rights violations committed by five Israeli military units against Palestinians in the West Bank. This revelation came before the Hamas assault in October.

Details of the Announcement

State Department deputy spokesman Vedant Patel stated that after a thorough review process, it was determined that five Israeli units were responsible for individual incidents of gross violations of human rights. While four of these units have taken remedial actions, discussions are ongoing with the Israeli government regarding the fifth unit.

Violation Timeline and Location

It was clarified that these violations occurred before the October 7 Hamas assault and were not related to the Gaza Strip. Specific details about the units involved and the actions taken by the Israeli government were not disclosed.

Identification of Accused Unit

According to press reports cited by the news agency AFP, a battalion known as the Netzah Yehuda, primarily composed of ultra-Orthodox Jews, was identified as one of the units accused of human rights abuses.

Blinken’s Remarks on Gaza Deal

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed optimism about a potential resolution to the Israeli offensive in Gaza. He mentioned that Hamas had received an “extraordinarily generous” offer from Israel in exchange for releasing hostages.

Hamas’s Decision

Blinken urged Hamas to swiftly accept the proposal, emphasizing that the only obstacle to a ceasefire was the decision of the militant group. He expressed hope that Hamas would make the right choice promptly to bring an end to the ongoing conflict.

Blinken highlighted the opportunity for a significant shift in the current situation after months of violence, emphasizing the need for decisive action.
