Miraculous Birth Amid Tragedy

In a tragic event in Gaza, doctors delivered a baby girl from a Palestinian woman who lost her life, along with her daughter and husband, during an attack by Israel. The incident occurred in Rafah, where 19 people lost their lives in intensified strikes, as confirmed by Palestinian health officials.

Almost 13 children from a single family perished after two houses were hit in the strike, as reported by the officials. The baby, weighing 1.4 kg, was delivered through an emergency C-section and is currently under the care of Dr. Mohammed Salama.

Hope Amidst Despair

The newborn, daughter of the late Sabreen Al-Sakani, is being closely monitored in an incubator at the Rafah hospital. The touching gesture of placing a tape on her chest with the inscription “The baby of the martyr Sabreen Al-Sakani” symbolizes the tragedy and hope intertwined in her story.

Despite the sorrowful circumstances, the family finds solace in the fact that Sakani’s young daughter, Malak, eagerly awaits her new sister, intending to name her Rouh, meaning spirit in Arabic.

A Long Road Ahead

Dr. Salama anticipates the baby’s stay in the hospital for three to four weeks before decisions are made regarding her care arrangements. The heartbreaking reality of the situation is highlighted by the doctor’s acknowledgment that even if the child survives, she will enter the world as an orphan.

Amidst the ongoing conflict, the loss of innocent lives continues to mount, with families like the Abdel Aal family bearing the brunt of the violence. The emotional toll is captured in the words of Gaza resident Mohammad al-Behairi, who expresses the deep anguish of losing loved ones in the strikes.
