Recruitment Surge in Russian Armed Forces
According to the Russian defence ministry, there has been a significant increase in the number of individuals signing contracts to join the nation’s armed forces.
New Recruits
- Over 100,000 people have signed contracts since the beginning of the year.
- Approximately 16,000 individuals signed up in the past 10 days alone.
In a recent statement, the ministry highlighted that many new recruits mentioned a desire to seek justice for the victims of the tragic attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue on March 22.
Moscow Terror Attack
The deadly attack near Moscow resulted in the loss of at least 144 lives, marking it as one of the worst incidents in Russia since the 2004 Beslan school siege.
Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attack, which has been noted as the deadliest on European soil by the group. However, Russian officials have pointed fingers at Ukraine for their alleged involvement.
Despite accusations from Russian authorities, there is currently no concrete evidence to support these claims. Ukraine has vehemently denied any connection to the attack, emphasizing the heavy Russian military presence in the border area.
Officials from Ukraine have dismissed the notion that the suspects were heading towards Ukraine, citing the high security measures in place by Russian forces.
