Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina’s national team, will not be available for the upcoming international friendly double-header due to a minor hamstring injury.

Argentina confirmed Messi’s absence from the squad after he sustained the injury while playing for Inter Miami in a Concacaf Champions Cup match against Nashville SC.
The 36-year-old forward scored a goal in the 23rd minute of the game but was substituted five minutes into the second half. He did not feature in their subsequent league match against DC United.

The official statement from Argentina read, “The captain of Argentina, Lionel Messi, will not be able to participate in the upcoming friendlies in the USA due to a minor hamstring injury suffered during the match against Nashville SC.”
Upcoming Matches
Argentina is scheduled to play two friendlies this month. They will face El Salvador on Saturday followed by a match against Costa Rica next Wednesday.
