Ivan Toney’s Goal Drought Continues in Brentford’s Draw with Fulham
Ivan Toney’s goal drought extended to 10 matches as Brentford played out a 0-0 draw with west London rivals Fulham. The England striker, who last scored for the Bees in February, faced a tough challenge against Fulham.
First Half Action
Despite Fulham having more possession, Brentford had clearer opportunities in the first half. Willian’s forward run set up a chance for Bryan Mbeumo, whose shot was deflected onto the crossbar by a desperate challenge from Calvin Bassey. Keane Lewis-Potter’s follow-up effort was saved by Fulham’s keeper Bernd Leno.
Centre-half Pinnock’s header across the penalty area found Christian Norgard, whose volley narrowly missed the target with Toney unable to connect at the far post.
Second Half Dominance by Fulham
The second half saw Fulham pushing for a win, with Alex Iwobi and Andreas Pereira coming close to scoring. Rodrigo Muniz’s header was saved by Brentford’s keeper Mark Flekken, while Timothy Castagne headed over from Pereira’s corner.
Fulham had a golden opportunity to secure the win when Adama Traore crossed to Raul Jimenez, but the Mexican striker missed from close range. Flekken made a crucial save to deny Traore as Brentford managed to hold on for a point in the derby.
