Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber Returns to Squad
Mikel Arteta believes Jurrien Timber could still have a part to play in Arsenal’s Premier League title run-in, despite not playing since August. Timber, who suffered a serious knee injury on his league debut against Nottingham Forest, is back in contention for Saturday’s visit of Bournemouth after working his way back to fitness.
Timber’s Return to Fitness
Having returned to training and improved his fitness levels by playing for the Under-21s, Arteta revealed that the 22-year-old defender will be part of his squad against the Cherries.
“Everybody is fit and available so now it’s the headache to make the right selection,” Arteta said. Asked about Timber’s return and its impact on the squad, Arteta added: “Yes, because it increases the quality of the training sessions.
- Commanding presence
- Leadership qualities
- Positive impact on squad dynamics
Arteta emphasized the need for Timber to demand more from his teammates, stating, “They look at each other and say ‘I better be good because I want to keep playing,’ and this is very positive for the squad.”
Arsenal’s Title Aspirations
Arsenal currently lead the table, one point clear of Manchester City, with three games remaining. Victory over Bournemouth would keep them at the summit as they aim for their first title in 20 years.
Arteta dismissed rumors of Gabriel Jesus leaving the club, affirming his intention to keep the Brazil forward at Arsenal.
Looking Ahead
Arsenal’s manager highlighted the importance of performing well and controlling games to secure victories without leaving it late, aiming for a more decisive approach in the final fixtures of the season.
