London Chaos: Military Horses Loose in the City
Reports of a group of military horses going astray in London resulted in disorder in the heart of the English capital. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday (Apr 24), led to up to five people being injured, prompting British authorities to seek the assistance of the military and police in locating the animals.
Details of the Incident
- Images and videos of horses without riders circulated on social media
- Footage showed a white horse, seemingly wounded, galloping alongside a black one
- The horses, belonging to the Household Cavalry of the British Army, broke free during a training session at Horse Guards Parade in central London
- They were spotted running on the road around Aldwych, with one of them appearing to have blood on it
- Incidents included a frightened horse hitting a parked car and another colliding with a double-decker tour bus
Authorities’ Response
An army spokesperson confirmed that all the loose horses had been recovered and returned to camp. Both personnel and horses that were injured are receiving medical attention. The London Metropolitan Police, in collaboration with the Army, are working to locate the remaining horses.
The London Ambulance Service responded to a call about a person thrown from a horse on Buckingham Palace Road. City of London police officers managed to capture two horses near Limehouse, which were then transported to receive veterinary care.
